【Event Report】2023.7.6 Start Up World Cup 2023 preliminary round in Kyoto 

The Graduate School of Business Administration held the “Startup World Cup Kyoto Preliminary Round” on Thursday, July 6 at Kyoto University Clock Tower Memorial Hall as a co-sponsored program.

After a special discussion between Takafumi Horie (Founder, SNS media & consulting, Inc.) and Anis Uzzaman (CEO, Pegasus Tech Ventures), Mitsuru Izumo (President, Euglena Co., Ltd.) and Seiichiro Yonekura (Professor Emeritus, Hitotsubashi University), the Kyoto Qualifier Twelve finalist companies made heated pitches, and HOMMAGroup K.K., “providing connected home and smart home technologies that connect home appliances and home equipment using architectural design and AI,” was selected to represent Japan.

The event was a success with approximately 800 visitors (more than 1,500 online viewers), 30 media companies, and many others.

The Startup World Cup is a startup pitch contest organized by Pegasus Tech Ventures with the aim of building a global startup ecosystem and fostering entrepreneurship.
Qualifying rounds are held in more than 70 regions and countries around the world, and the finals in San Francisco will bring together the world’s top startups, VCs, entrepreneurs, and major companies, with the winning company receiving an investment prize of approximately 100 million yen.
The next round will be held in Tokyo on September 8 at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo, and the global finals will be held in San Francisco on December 1.
